Built around a removable U-tube bundle, this configuration delivers high-temperature water heating for demanding service. High-temperature water flows through the tube side, so the heads rather than the shell set the pressure limit. Dimensionally it is a 6-inch shell unit, 96-inch shell length, and roughly 100-1/4 inches overall in a 4-pass arrangement. That works out to about 36.2 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. Material selection covers cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel tubesheets. Design ratings run to 150 PSI on the shell side, 400 PSI on the tube side, and 375°F maximum temperature. This build is designated HTWU68-43. Common applications are high-temperature hot water distribution, industrial process heating, and campus and district energy systems.
