The fastest way to get an answer is to send us the part number from the nameplate. A catalogued number such as 5-265-04-036-001, or an older designation such as WU85-2, tells us the series, the shell dimensions and the pass arrangement, which is everything needed to confirm a replacement unit, a bundle or a gasket set.

If the nameplate has become illegible, a photograph of the unit plus a few measurements will do. Record the shell diameter, the shell length, the overall length end to end, and the size and position of the shell-side and tube-side connections. We will tell you what else to look for.

For a new selection rather than a replacement, we need the duty: both fluids with flow rates, inlet temperatures and required outlet temperatures, the operating and design pressures, and the allowable pressure drop on each side. That last figure is the one most often left off an enquiry and the one that most often changes the answer.
