A removable U-tube bundle gives this configuration the thermal and mechanical margin expected of HTWU equipment in high-temperature water heating. High-temperature water flows through the tube side, so the heads rather than the shell set the pressure limit. Physically, the unit runs a 6-inch shell, 84-inch shell length, and roughly 88-1/4 inches overall in a 4-pass arrangement. That works out to about 31.5 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. Material selection covers cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel tubesheets. The unit is rated for 150 PSI on the shell side, 400 PSI on the tube side, and 375°F maximum temperature. Typical duty includes industrial process heating, converter duty on HTHW loops, and high-temperature hot water distribution. This build is designated HTWU67-43.
