A removable U-tube bundle gives this configuration the thermal and mechanical margin expected of SU/WU equipment in liquid-to-liquid heating and cooling. Pumped boiler water circulates through the baffled shell against the tube-side fluid. The configuration measures 18 inches across the shell, 84-inch shell length, and roughly 101-1/2 inches overall in a 6-pass arrangement. It carries 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. The build specifies cast iron or brass bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel or brass tubesheets. Operating limits are 150 PSI on the shell side, N/A on the tube side, and 300°F maximum temperature. The series sees regular use in oil cooling and snow melting, pool and storage-tower heating, and condensate cooling. This build is designated WU187-612.
