Built around a removable U-tube bundle, this configuration delivers liquid-to-liquid heating and cooling for demanding service. Pumped boiler water circulates through the baffled shell against the tube-side fluid. Physically, the unit runs a 18-inch shell, 84-inch shell length, and roughly 99-1/2 inches overall in a 4-pass arrangement. That works out to about 339 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. As furnished, materials include cast iron or brass bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel or brass tubesheets. The unit is rated for 150 PSI on the shell side, 125 PSI on the tube side, and 300°F maximum temperature. This build is designated WU187-46. Common applications are oil cooling and snow melting, pool and storage-tower heating, and hydronic HVAC converters.
