For liquid-to-liquid heating and cooling, the SU/WU line offers a removable U-tube bundle design; this configuration sits within that range. Pumped boiler water circulates through the baffled shell against the tube-side fluid. Physically, the unit runs a 18-inch shell, 84-inch shell length, and roughly 101-1/2 inches overall in a 2-pass arrangement. That works out to about 339 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. As furnished, materials include cast iron or brass bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel or brass tubesheets. The unit is rated for 150 PSI on the shell side, 125 PSI on the tube side, and 300°F maximum temperature. The series sees regular use in pool and storage-tower heating, oil cooling and snow melting, and condensate cooling. This build is designated WU187-212.
