A removable U-tube bundle gives this configuration the thermal and mechanical margin expected of SU/WU equipment in liquid-to-liquid heating and cooling. Pumped boiler water circulates through the baffled shell against the tube-side fluid. Physically, the unit runs a 18-inch shell, 72-inch shell length, and roughly 87-1/2 inches overall in a 6-pass arrangement. It carries 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. As furnished, materials include cast iron or brass bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel or brass tubesheets. The unit is rated for 150 PSI on the shell side, N/A on the tube side, and 300°F maximum temperature. This build is designated WU186-66. Common applications are condensate cooling, pool and storage-tower heating, and hydronic HVAC converters.
