For liquid-to-liquid heating and cooling, the SU/WU line offers a removable U-tube bundle design; this configuration sits within that range. Pumped boiler water circulates through the baffled shell against the tube-side fluid. Dimensionally it is a 12-inch shell unit, 108-inch shell length, and roughly 116-1/2 inches overall in a 4-pass arrangement. That works out to about 180 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. Standard construction uses cast iron or brass bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel or brass tubesheets. Design ratings run to 150 PSI on the shell side, 125 PSI on the tube side, and 300°F maximum temperature. The series sees regular use in oil cooling and snow melting, pool and storage-tower heating, and hydronic HVAC converters. This build is designated WU129-46.
