For water-cooled gas cooling, the GC gas cooler line offers a removable straight-tube bundle design; this configuration sits within that range. Hot gas passes through the tubes against cooling water in the baffled shell, and the unit shares the removable-bundle construction of the OC series. Its envelope centers on a 8-inch diameter shell, 123-inch shell length. It carries 5/8-inch O.D. tubes. That combination is cataloged as GC810-80. Standard construction uses cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper or steel tubes, and steel tubesheets. On the ratings side, expect 1000°F maximum temperature. The series sees regular use in process gas cooling, industrial gas conditioning, and compressor discharge gas cooling. Small-diameter tubing maximizes surface in a given shell, and alternate tube alloys are available for corrosive gas streams.
