Configured for water-cooled gas cooling, this configuration carries the removable straight-tube bundle construction that defines the GC gas cooler range. Hot gas passes through the tubes against cooling water in the baffled shell, and the unit shares the removable-bundle construction of the OC series. Physically, the unit runs a 6-inch shell, 51-inch shell length. It carries 5/8-inch O.D. tubes. As furnished, materials include cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper or steel tubes, and steel tubesheets. On the ratings side, expect 1000°F maximum temperature. Typical duty includes process gas cooling, blower and vapor cooling duty, and compressor discharge gas cooling. Small-diameter tubing maximizes surface in a given shell, and alternate tube alloys are available for corrosive gas streams. The resulting model number is GC64-40.
