For water-cooled gas cooling, the GC gas cooler line offers a removable straight-tube bundle design; this configuration sits within that range. Hot gas passes through the tubes against cooling water in the baffled shell, and the unit shares the removable-bundle construction of the OC series. Dimensionally it is a 6-inch shell unit, 39-inch shell length. It carries 5/8-inch O.D. tubes. Material selection covers cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper or steel tubes, and steel tubesheets. The unit is rated for 1000°F maximum temperature. Common applications are compressor discharge gas cooling, industrial gas conditioning, and process gas cooling. Small-diameter tubing maximizes surface in a given shell, and alternate tube alloys are available for corrosive gas streams. The resulting model number is GC63-30.
