A removable straight-tube bundle gives 5-153-10-099-005 the thermal and mechanical margin expected of GC gas cooler equipment in water-cooled gas cooling. Hot gas passes through the tubes against cooling water in the baffled shell, and the unit shares the removable-bundle construction of the OC series. Dimensionally it is a 10-inch shell unit, 99-inch shell length. It carries 5/8-inch O.D. tubes. The build specifies cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel tubesheets. On the ratings side, expect 1000°F maximum temperature. The series sees regular use in process gas cooling, industrial gas conditioning, and blower and vapor cooling duty. Small-diameter tubing maximizes surface in a given shell, and alternate tube alloys are available for corrosive gas streams.
