A fixed-tubesheet bundle gives this configuration the thermal and mechanical margin expected of ACFR aftercooler equipment in compressed air aftercooling. Compressed air passes through the tubes against cooling water in the baffled shell, and the tube interiors clean easily from either end. Its envelope centers on a 6-5/8-inch diameter shell, 50-inch shell length, and roughly 50 inches overall in a 1-pass arrangement. That works out to about 32.1 square feet of heat transfer surface on 1/4-inch O.D. tubes. As furnished, materials include cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel tubesheets. Design ratings run to 300°F maximum temperature. Typical duty includes small and mid-size compressor packages, moisture and oil removal from plant air, and compressor discharge aftercooling.
