Compressed air passes through the tubes against cooling water in the baffled shell, and the tube interiors clean easily from either end. Shell dimensions vary by size within this configuration in a 1-pass arrangement. It carries 1/4-inch O.D. tubes. Standard construction uses cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel tubesheets. Design ratings run to 300°F maximum temperature. Installations range across instrument and shop air conditioning, small and mid-size compressor packages, and compressor discharge aftercooling. Steel tubesheets and baffles with 1/4-inch copper tubes keep the assembly compact, and the fixed-tubesheet design holds overall length within 50 inches.
