Configured for compressed air aftercooling, this configuration carries the fixed-tubesheet bundle construction that defines the ACFR aftercooler range. Compressed air passes through the tubes against cooling water in the baffled shell, and the tube interiors clean easily from either end. Physically, the unit runs a 6-5/8-inch shell, 50-inch shell length, and roughly 50 inches overall in a 1-pass arrangement. That works out to about 25.4 square feet of heat transfer surface on 1/4-inch O.D. tubes. Standard construction uses cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel tubesheets. Operating limits are 300°F maximum temperature. This build is designated 5-005-06-050-005. The series sees regular use in moisture and oil removal from plant air, instrument and shop air conditioning, and small and mid-size compressor packages.
