Built around a fixed-tubesheet bundle, this configuration delivers compressed air aftercooling for demanding service. Compressed air passes through the tubes against cooling water in the baffled shell, and the tube interiors clean easily from either end. Its envelope centers on a 6-5/8-inch diameter shell, 50-inch shell length, and roughly 50 inches overall in a 1-pass arrangement. That works out to about 18 square feet of heat transfer surface on 1/4-inch O.D. tubes. That combination is cataloged as 5-005-06-050-004. The build specifies cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel tubesheets. On the ratings side, expect 300°F maximum temperature. Typical duty includes compressor discharge aftercooling, instrument and shop air conditioning, and small and mid-size compressor packages.
