Built around a fixed-tubesheet bundle, this configuration delivers compressed air aftercooling for demanding service. Compressed air passes through the tubes against cooling water in the baffled shell, and the tube interiors clean easily from either end. Dimensionally it is a 3-1/2-inch shell unit, 50-inch shell length, and roughly 50 inches overall in a 1-pass arrangement. That works out to about 6.4 square feet of heat transfer surface on 1/4-inch O.D. tubes. As furnished, materials include cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel tubesheets. Design ratings run to 300°F maximum temperature. This build is designated 5-005-03-050-006.
