this configuration is a ACFR aftercooler unit built on a fixed-tubesheet bundle for compressed air aftercooling. Compressed air passes through the tubes against cooling water in the baffled shell, and the tube interiors clean easily from either end. Dimensionally it is a 3-1/2-inch shell unit, 50-inch shell length, and roughly 50 inches overall in a 1-pass arrangement. That works out to about 8.5 square feet of heat transfer surface on 1/4-inch O.D. tubes. Standard construction uses cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel tubesheets. The unit is rated for 300°F maximum temperature. The series sees regular use in moisture and oil removal from plant air, instrument and shop air conditioning, and small and mid-size compressor packages. This build is designated 5-005-03-050-007.
