Configured for steam-to-liquid heating, this configuration carries the removable U-tube bundle construction that defines the SU/WU range. Steam condenses in the single-pass shell while the heated fluid travels the tubes. Dimensionally it is a 30-inch shell unit, 84-inch shell length, and roughly 113-3/4 inches overall in a 4-pass arrangement. That works out to about 970 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. That combination is cataloged as SU307-4. As furnished, materials include cast iron or brass bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel or brass tubesheets. Operating limits are 150 PSI on the shell side, 150 PSI on the tube side, and 375°F maximum temperature. Typical duty includes radiant panel and snow-melt converters, building comfort heating, and instantaneous domestic water heating.
