this configuration is a SU/WU unit built on a removable U-tube bundle for steam-to-liquid heating. Steam condenses in the single-pass shell while the heated fluid travels the tubes. Dimensionally it is a 18-inch shell unit, 72-inch shell length, and roughly 84-1/2 inches overall in a 4-pass arrangement. That works out to about 290 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. As furnished, materials include cast iron or brass bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and brass tubesheets. The unit is rated for 150 PSI on the shell side, 150 PSI on the tube side, and 375°F maximum temperature. This build is designated SU186-4. Common applications are instantaneous domestic water heating, radiant panel and snow-melt converters, and building comfort heating.
