Note: Unit pictured is representative of standard unit and may not exactly depict p/n SU144-4 as shown on this page.
A removable U-tube bundle gives this configuration the thermal and mechanical margin expected of SU/WU equipment in steam-to-liquid heating. Steam condenses in the single-pass shell while the heated fluid travels the tubes. Its envelope centers on a 14-inch diameter shell, 48-inch shell length, and roughly 56-3/4 inches overall in a 4-pass arrangement. That works out to about 111 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. Standard construction uses cast iron or brass bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and brass tubesheets. Operating limits are 150 PSI on the shell side, 150 PSI on the tube side, and 375°F maximum temperature. This build is designated SU144-4. Common applications are instantaneous domestic water heating, swimming pool heating, and radiant panel and snow-melt converters.
