Steam condenses in the single-pass shell while the heated fluid travels the tubes. Its envelope centers on a 12-inch diameter shell, 120-inch shell length, and roughly 125-1/2 inches overall in a 2-pass arrangement. That works out to about 212 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. Standard construction uses cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and brass tubesheets. On the ratings side, expect 150 PSI on the shell side, 150 PSI on the tube side, and 375°F maximum temperature. Typical duty includes instantaneous domestic water heating, radiant panel and snow-melt converters, and swimming pool heating.
