A removable U-tube bundle gives 5-268-12-120-003 the thermal and mechanical margin expected of HTWU equipment in high-temperature water heating. High-temperature water flows through the tube side, so the heads rather than the shell set the pressure limit. Physically, the unit runs a 12-inch shell, 120-inch shell length, and roughly 126 inches overall in a 6-pass arrangement. That works out to about 174 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. Material selection covers cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel tubesheets. Design ratings run to 150 PSI on the shell side, 400 PSI on the tube side, and 375°F maximum temperature. Installations range across converter duty on HTHW loops, high-temperature hot water distribution, and industrial process heating.
