this configuration is a HTWU unit built on a removable U-tube bundle for high-temperature water heating. High-temperature water flows through the tube side, so the heads rather than the shell set the pressure limit. Physically, the unit runs a 8-inch shell, 84-inch shell length, and roughly 89-1/8 inches overall in a 6-pass arrangement. That works out to about 48 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. The build specifies cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel tubesheets. Operating limits are 150 PSI on the shell side, 400 PSI on the tube side, and 375°F maximum temperature. Typical duty includes high-temperature hot water distribution, converter duty on HTHW loops, and campus and district energy systems. This build is designated 5-268-08-084-003.
