High-temperature water flows through the tube side, so the heads rather than the shell set the pressure limit. That works out to about 41 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. As furnished, materials include cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel tubesheets. The unit is rated for 150 PSI on the shell side, 400 PSI on the tube side, and 375°F maximum temperature. Common applications are converter duty on HTHW loops, high-temperature hot water distribution, and campus and district energy systems.
