High-temperature water flows through the tube side, so the heads rather than the shell set the pressure limit. Dimensionally it is a 6-inch shell unit, 84-inch shell length, and roughly 88-1/4 inches overall in a 6-pass arrangement. That works out to about 23.8 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. Material selection covers cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel tubesheets. Operating limits are 150 PSI on the shell side, 400 PSI on the tube side, and 375°F maximum temperature. Typical duty includes high-temperature hot water distribution, converter duty on HTHW loops, and industrial process heating.
