High-temperature water flows through the tube side, so the heads rather than the shell set the pressure limit. Physically, the unit runs a 4-inch shell, 72-inch shell length, and roughly 76-5/8 inches overall in a 2-pass arrangement. That works out to about 13.9 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. Material selection covers cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel tubesheets.
