Configured for liquid-to-liquid heating and cooling, WU88-44 carries the removable U-tube bundle construction that defines the SU/WU range. Pumped boiler water circulates through the baffled shell against the tube-side fluid. Dimensionally it is a 8-inch shell unit, 96-inch shell length, and roughly 101 inches overall in a 4-pass arrangement. That works out to about 67 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. The build specifies cast iron or brass bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel or brass tubesheets. Design ratings run to 150 PSI on the shell side, 150 PSI on the tube side, and 300°F maximum temperature. The series sees regular use in condensate cooling, pool and storage-tower heating, and hydronic HVAC converters.
