For liquid-to-liquid heating and cooling, the SU/WU line offers a removable U-tube bundle design; this configuration sits within that range. Pumped boiler water circulates through the baffled shell against the tube-side fluid. Physically, the unit runs a 4-inch shell, 72-inch shell length, and roughly 76-7/8 inches overall in a 4-pass arrangement. That works out to about 13.9 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. The build specifies cast iron or brass bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel or brass tubesheets. Design ratings run to 150 PSI on the shell side, 150 PSI on the tube side, and 300°F maximum temperature. This build is designated WU46-44. The series sees regular use in condensate cooling, hydronic HVAC converters, and pool and storage-tower heating.
