This configuration is a SU/WU unit built on a removable U-tube bundle for liquid-to-liquid heating and cooling. Pumped boiler water circulates through the baffled shell against the tube-side fluid. The configuration measures 30 inches across the shell, 84-inch shell length, and roughly 122-1/8 inches overall in a 4-pass arrangement. That works out to about 970 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. The build specifies cast iron or brass bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel or brass tubesheets. Design ratings run to 150 PSI on the shell side, 150 PSI on the tube side, and 300°F maximum temperature. This build is designated WU307-4. Common applications are pool and storage-tower heating, hydronic HVAC converters, and oil cooling and snow melting.
