Configured for liquid-to-liquid heating and cooling, WU245-4 carries the removable U-tube bundle construction that defines the SU/WU range. Pumped boiler water circulates through the baffled shell against the tube-side fluid. Dimensionally it is a 24-inch shell unit, 60-inch shell length, and roughly 100-5/8 inches overall in a 4-pass arrangement. That works out to about 479 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. Standard construction uses cast iron or brass bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel or brass tubesheets. Design ratings run to 150 PSI on the shell side, 150 PSI on the tube side, and 300°F maximum temperature. Typical duty includes hydronic HVAC converters, oil cooling and snow melting, and pool and storage-tower heating.
