Configured for liquid-to-liquid heating and cooling, this configuration carries the removable U-tube bundle construction that defines the SU/WU range. Pumped boiler water circulates through the baffled shell against the tube-side fluid. Dimensionally it is a 22-inch shell unit, 108-inch shell length, and roughly 151-1/8 inches overall in a 2-pass arrangement. That works out to about 724 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. That combination is cataloged as WU229-2. As furnished, materials include cast iron or brass bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel or brass tubesheets. Operating limits are 150 PSI on the shell side, 150 PSI on the tube side, and 300°F maximum temperature. Installations range across oil cooling and snow melting, pool and storage-tower heating, and hydronic HVAC converters.
