Configured for liquid-to-liquid heating and cooling, this configuration carries the removable U-tube bundle construction that defines the SU/WU range. Pumped boiler water circulates through the baffled shell against the tube-side fluid. The configuration measures 22 inches across the shell, 96-inch shell length, and roughly 139-1/8 inches overall in a 2-pass arrangement. That works out to about 645 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. As furnished, materials include cast iron or brass bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel or brass tubesheets. Operating limits are 150 PSI on the shell side, 150 PSI on the tube side, and 300°F maximum temperature. Typical duty includes oil cooling and snow melting, condensate cooling, and hydronic HVAC converters. This build is designated WU228-2.
