This configuration is a SU/WU unit built on a removable U-tube bundle for liquid-to-liquid heating and cooling. Pumped boiler water circulates through the baffled shell against the tube-side fluid. Its envelope centers on a 18-inch diameter shell, 96-inch shell length, and roughly 111-1/2 inches overall in a 2-pass arrangement. That works out to about 387 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. The build specifies cast iron or brass bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel or brass tubesheets. The unit is rated for 150 PSI on the shell side, 125 PSI on the tube side, and 300°F maximum temperature. This build is designated WU188-26. Common applications are hydronic HVAC converters, oil cooling and snow melting, and condensate cooling.
