A removable U-tube bundle gives this configuration the thermal and mechanical margin expected of SU/WU equipment in liquid-to-liquid heating and cooling. Pumped boiler water circulates through the baffled shell against the tube-side fluid. Its envelope centers on a 18-inch diameter shell, 72-inch shell length, and roughly 89-1/2 inches overall in a 4-pass arrangement. That works out to about 290 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. Standard construction uses cast iron or brass bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel or brass tubesheets. The unit is rated for 150 PSI on the shell side, 125 PSI on the tube side, and 300°F maximum temperature. Typical duty includes condensate cooling, pool and storage-tower heating, and oil cooling and snow melting. This build is designated WU186-412.
