Configured for liquid-to-liquid heating and cooling, this configuration carries the removable U-tube bundle construction that defines the SU/WU range. Pumped boiler water circulates through the baffled shell against the tube-side fluid. The configuration measures 12 inches across the shell, 48-inch shell length, and roughly 56-1/2 inches overall in a 2-pass arrangement. That works out to about 83 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. The build specifies cast iron or brass bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel or brass tubesheets. Operating limits are 150 PSI on the shell side, 125 PSI on the tube side, and 300°F maximum temperature. Common applications are condensate cooling, pool and storage-tower heating, and oil cooling and snow melting. This build is designated WU124-26.
