A removable U-tube bundle gives this configuration the thermal and mechanical margin expected of SU/WU equipment in liquid-to-liquid heating and cooling. Pumped boiler water circulates through the baffled shell against the tube-side fluid. The configuration measures 10 inches across the shell, 72-inch shell length, and roughly 77 inches overall in a 6-pass arrangement. That works out to about 68 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. That combination is cataloged as WU106-65. Standard construction uses cast iron or brass bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel or brass tubesheets. Operating limits are 150 PSI on the shell side, N/A on the tube side, and 300°F maximum temperature. Typical duty includes pool and storage-tower heating, condensate cooling, and hydronic HVAC converters.
