A removable U-tube bundle gives this configuration the thermal and mechanical margin expected of SU/WU equipment in liquid-to-liquid heating and cooling. Pumped boiler water circulates through the baffled shell against the tube-side fluid. Physically, the unit runs a 12-inch shell, 72-inch shell length, and roughly 80-1/2 inches overall in a 4-pass arrangement. That works out to about 119 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. The build specifies cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel tubesheets. On the ratings side, expect 150 PSI on the shell side, 125 PSI on the tube side, and 300°F maximum temperature. Common applications are condensate cooling, oil cooling and snow melting, and pool and storage-tower heating. This build is designated 5-265-12-072-002.
