Built around a fixed-tubesheet bundle, this configuration delivers compact liquid cooling in corrosive service for demanding service. It shares the compact CHX envelope while targeting service that would attack a standard cooler. Physically, the unit runs a 8-inch shell, 72-inch shell length, and roughly 78-1/2 inches overall in a 2-pass arrangement. That works out to about 124 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. The build specifies cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and brass tubesheets. The unit is rated for 300 PSI on the shell side, 150 PSI on the tube side, and 300°F maximum temperature. This build is designated CHXS872-2S. Common applications are mechanical seal cooling, deionized and treated water cooling, and hydraulic and lube oil cooling.
