Built around a fixed-tubesheet bundle, this configuration delivers compact liquid cooling in corrosive service for demanding service. It shares the compact CHX envelope while targeting service that would attack a standard cooler. Dimensionally it is a 4-inch shell unit, 24-inch shell length, and roughly 27-5/8 inches overall in a 2-pass arrangement. That works out to about 14.1 square feet of heat transfer surface on 5/8-inch O.D. tubes. The build specifies cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and brass tubesheets. Design ratings run to 300 PSI on the shell side, 150 PSI on the tube side, and 300°F maximum temperature. This build is designated CHXS424-2S. Installations range across mechanical seal cooling, deionized and treated water cooling, and hydraulic and lube oil cooling.
