Built around a fixed-tubesheet bundle, this configuration delivers compact liquid cooling in corrosive service for demanding service. It shares the compact CHX envelope while targeting service that would attack a standard cooler. Dimensionally it is a 3-inch shell unit, 8-inch shell length, and roughly 11-1/4 inches overall in a 4-pass arrangement. That works out to about 2.4 square feet of heat transfer surface on 5/8-inch O.D. tubes. That combination is cataloged as CHXS308-4L. As furnished, materials include cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and brass tubesheets. On the ratings side, expect 300 PSI on the shell side, 150 PSI on the tube side, and 300°F maximum temperature. Common applications are chemical and food process cooling, mechanical seal cooling, and hydraulic and lube oil cooling.
