Configured for compact liquid cooling, this configuration carries the fixed-tubesheet bundle construction that defines the CHX compact range. Small-diameter tubes pack maximum surface into a short shell, keeping the mounting footprint tight. Dimensionally it is a 8-inch shell unit, 72-inch shell length, and roughly 78-1/2 inches overall in a 2-pass arrangement. That works out to about 124 square feet of heat transfer surface on 3/4-inch O.D. tubes. Standard construction uses cast iron bonnets, brass shell, copper tubes, and brass tubesheets. On the ratings side, expect 300 PSI on the shell side, 150 PSI on the tube side, and 300°F maximum temperature. This build is designated CHX872-2S. Typical duty includes engine jacket water cooling, injection molding machine cooling, and mechanical seal cooling.
