This configuration is a CHX compact unit built on a fixed-tubesheet bundle for compact liquid cooling. Small-diameter tubes pack maximum surface into a short shell, keeping the mounting footprint tight. Dimensionally it is a 3-inch shell unit, 8-inch shell length, and roughly 11-1/4 inches overall in a 4-pass arrangement. That works out to about 2.4 square feet of heat transfer surface on 5/8-inch O.D. tubes. That combination is cataloged as CHX308-4L. Standard construction uses cast iron bonnets, brass shell, copper tubes, and brass tubesheets. Operating limits are 300 PSI on the shell side, 150 PSI on the tube side, and 300°F maximum temperature. The series sees regular use in engine jacket water cooling, mechanical seal cooling, and hydraulic and lube oil cooling.
