GC66-40

A removable straight-tube bundle gives this configuration the thermal and mechanical margin expected of GC gas cooler equipment in water-cooled gas cooling. Hot gas passes through the tubes against cooling water in the baffled shell, and the unit shares the removable-bundle construction of the OC series. Its envelope centers on a 6-inch diameter shell, 75-inch shell length. It carries 5/8-inch O.D. tubes. That combination is cataloged as GC66-40. The build specifies cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper or steel tubes, and steel tubesheets. The unit is rated for 1000°F maximum temperature. The series sees regular use in compressor discharge gas cooling, blower and vapor cooling duty, and process gas cooling. Small-diameter tubing maximizes surface in a given shell, and alternate tube alloys are available for corrosive gas streams.
