Built around a removable straight-tube bundle, this configuration delivers water-cooled gas cooling for demanding service. Hot gas passes through the tubes against cooling water in the baffled shell, and the unit shares the removable-bundle construction of the OC series. Physically, the unit runs a 10-inch shell, 99-inch shell length. It carries 5/8-inch O.D. tubes. That combination is cataloged as GC108-140. The build specifies cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper or steel tubes, and steel tubesheets. Operating limits are 1000°F maximum temperature. Typical duty includes compressor discharge gas cooling, blower and vapor cooling duty, and industrial gas conditioning. Small-diameter tubing maximizes surface in a given shell, and alternate tube alloys are available for corrosive gas streams.
