Hot gas passes through the tubes against cooling water in the baffled shell, and the unit shares the removable-bundle construction of the OC series. Physically, the unit runs a 8-inch shell, 123-inch shell length. It carries 5/8-inch O.D. tubes. The build specifies cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel tubesheets. Design ratings run to 1000°F maximum temperature. Common applications are blower and vapor cooling duty, industrial gas conditioning, and process gas cooling. Small-diameter tubing maximizes surface in a given shell, and alternate tube alloys are available for corrosive gas streams.
