A removable straight-tube bundle gives this configuration the thermal and mechanical margin expected of GC gas cooler equipment in water-cooled gas cooling. Hot gas passes through the tubes against cooling water in the baffled shell, and the unit shares the removable-bundle construction of the OC series. Physically, the unit runs a 8-inch shell, 51-inch shell length. It carries 5/8-inch O.D. tubes. That combination is cataloged as 5-153-08-051-004. As furnished, materials include cast iron bonnets, steel shell, steel tubes, and steel tubesheets. Operating limits are 1000°F maximum temperature. Common applications are blower and vapor cooling duty, compressor discharge gas cooling, and industrial gas conditioning. Small-diameter tubing maximizes surface in a given shell, and alternate tube alloys are available for corrosive gas streams.
