A removable straight-tube bundle gives this configuration the thermal and mechanical margin expected of GC gas cooler equipment in water-cooled gas cooling. Hot gas passes through the tubes against cooling water in the baffled shell, and the unit shares the removable-bundle construction of the OC series. Dimensionally it is a 3-inch shell unit, 51-inch shell length. It carries 5/8-inch O.D. tubes. Standard construction uses cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel tubesheets. Design ratings run to 1000°F maximum temperature. This build is designated 5-153-03-051-001. The series sees regular use in industrial gas conditioning, compressor discharge gas cooling, and blower and vapor cooling duty. Small-diameter tubing maximizes surface in a given shell, and alternate tube alloys are available for corrosive gas streams.
