Built around a fixed-tubesheet bundle, this configuration delivers compressed air aftercooling for demanding service. Compressed air passes through the tubes against cooling water in the baffled shell, and the tube interiors clean easily from either end. The configuration measures 10-3/4 inches across the shell, 50-inch shell length, and roughly 50 inches overall in a 1-pass arrangement. That works out to about 103.1 square feet of heat transfer surface on 1/4-inch O.D. tubes. Material selection covers cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel tubesheets. On the ratings side, expect 300°F maximum temperature. Common applications are compressor discharge aftercooling, moisture and oil removal from plant air, and instrument and shop air conditioning.
