A fixed-tubesheet bundle gives this configuration the thermal and mechanical margin expected of ACFR aftercooler equipment in compressed air aftercooling. Compressed air passes through the tubes against cooling water in the baffled shell, and the tube interiors clean easily from either end. Shell dimensions vary by size within this configuration in a 1-pass arrangement. It carries 1/4-inch O.D. tubes. Standard construction uses cast iron bonnets, steel shell, copper tubes, and steel tubesheets. Operating limits are 300°F maximum temperature. This build is designated 5-005-10-050-001. The series sees regular use in compressor discharge aftercooling, instrument and shop air conditioning, and moisture and oil removal from plant air. Steel tubesheets and baffles with 1/4-inch copper tubes keep the assembly compact, and the fixed-tubesheet design holds overall length within 50 inches.
